The driving force behind Jacob's work is to visually describe an artistic statement, based on an investigation of materials and space.
Jacob's approach reduces and undresses as a way to help clarify his own history. These are things that either exist in reality or objects that model themselves on reality. The difference between abstraction and substance, between foreground and background, between illusionary and real space. Through these suspended and ambiguous objects, I create a sense of uncertainty about the existence of the work and its limits, and open up new possibilities of interpretation. A quest for what is fully established. An approach where the emphasis is on composition; between objects, materials, space and people.
