Kerstin Ekengren

Kerstin Ekengren was a textile artist from Järvsö, 1917-2007. As a young woman, she came to Ljusdal in Hälsingland. She brought her husband Sture, also an artist, colorer and sculptor, with her. Both were captivated by the landscape and people of Hälsingland and chose to stay and develop their respective art forms in close contact with nature and culture.
In the 1950s, they found their dream plot in Sanna by outside Järvsö and built one of the country's first well-thought-out eco-houses, where they then lived. Kerstin's carpets and textiles are countless in public spaces. Tuva Wretblad describes Kerstin Ekengren's artistry and life in "Lin blir gull", a film from 2002.
