When Helena Bengtsson was commissioned to make a Karlstad-inspired collection for Klässbols, she thought hard about what the pattern should radiate. "As a resident of Karlstad, with a studio just outside the city, it is difficult to escape the solar connection, but for me it was important to make my own interpretation. My sun is inspired by the weather map and it forms the base pattern. I also see the people in Karlstad sunbathing, and the sun shines between our bridges and is reflected in the water," describes Helena. After much thought, Helena chose to use the old stenbron that she laid as a border. On the towel, there were six vaults per side, so you can get all twelve vaults. The four elements of the pattern are stenbron , the water, suns and a ducal crown. "I chose stenbron because it is so unique of its kind. I also wanted to create a pattern that is permanent and relevant over time. Between the bridge arches, the Klarälven flows like a water mirror where both suns and stars can be reflected. The crown is inspired by the gilded ducal crown that sits at the Residence in Karlstad and which is said to have been missing for a while," says Helena Bengtsson.
